Brother’s Wedding

*This is going to be a lengthy post.*

My not-so-little brother got married last month and I was running around as if it was my own wedding. There I was worrying about everything and was hoping that everything would go well while my brother on the other hand was calm and collected hehehhe. I was literally breathing down my parents and brother’s neck making sure they do everything right and according to the colour and the theme/ concept. I felt like I became the sisterzilla-of-the-groom. Luckily, I had only 3 vendors to worry about, which were the decor company and the tables & chairs vendor as well as the photo-booth vendor. My mum settled the catering plus, the caterer was the same one that I took from my wedding, so no worries in that aspect. It was a pleasure to have worked with Elly Weddings for the dais & decor company and Gerek Services for the photo-booth.

Alhamdullilah everything went well and it was a beautiful event. It did not rain till towards the end and it was good to have met and mingled with close friends, relatives and brother’s friends whom I have not seen them for quite a while. My brother and I are very close knit and during his solemnization, I couldn’t help but to cry. I can’t believe he’s a married man now. 🙂 But I am thankful to gain a sister-in-law and a new family.

So being the sister of the groom, here are some of the things that I helped them with and thanking my partner, Arfah, for painstakingly helping me with some crafts and of coz keep me grounded and reminding me to breathe! *lol* As what I mentioned to Arfah, luckily I have only 1 brother and it was already this hectic. She has 5 to deal with and all the plannings to be done! *gasps*

So here are some of the things that I did for my brother with the help of my Lola partner, Arfah.

Wedding Cards

During my wedding, my mum photocopied my cards just so she could invite the whole of Customs & Immigration be it Woodlands, Tuas, Ports or Airport! Hmmmppphhh. So this time round, I is smart hahha. I did a design that I know she will have no way of photocopying and true enough, after the cards were out, she called me witha pitiful voice, asking me to help her reprint a few more hahhaha. But being a combined event, she really had to make some exceptions this time round. :p

This was the mock-up I did before finalizing it. Double-sided, z-fold with die-cut to the polygon shape.

Money Box

My parents were more than happy to have this. No more worrying of who to handle/hold all the duit salam. I glue-gun shut the top lid. One would have to literally use force to pray oven the cover. So salam and slot in… simple as that!

Life-Size Instagram Frame

So many people liked and used this. Glad it came in handy.

Advises for the Bride & Groom

The tags were painstakingly cut by myself and the bride and her bridesmaids. Loved how the final outcome came about with the glitter vase and how guests were writing advices for both the bride and groom.

Berkats

Managed to get a good price for the glass jars and the the sugar-coated jellies from vendors that I have worked with. So all I needed to do were to design and print the stickers and bought ribbons and plastics. We started about 2 months before the event. Getting family members to help out as well. We did about 1000+ bottles in total for both the bride and groom. Somehow the picture here doesn’t do justice.

Macaron Tower & Dessert Table

Thank God that the partner came over to help the day before and on event day itself. Managed to get the flowers in the morning the day before the majlis. Managed to bake things earlier so we were just left with the logistics the night before. I didn’t want to do the dessert table coz I did not want any of my frens to assist and that i know we won’t have the manpower but my mum insisted on having the dessert table. But most of the stuffs were ready-made and given by relatives.

We were stoked after setting up the macaron tower. Set against the simplicity of the decor from Elly Weddings. We are pretty happy with the outcome.

Gift Trays

We did not manage to take any proper pix of the gift trays admist all the hectic schedule. So here’s what we have. Just have to wait for the official pix from the photogs.

With all these being done, we are pretty much satisfied with the vendors that we had to work with for the combined wedding.

Wedding Decor & Dais – Elly Weddings

My brother and his wife were pretty much set on wanting Elly Weddings as their vendor. It was easy to communicate with them and most of the family members on both sides loved the simplicity and outcome of the set-up.

Catering – Cik Haji Yunos (Bukit Gombak)

Again, we used him for my wedding and my parents had no complains with them. Generous in food portions and we did not have to worry about shortage of food. He did not charge by per head but by the number of invitees. He’s reasonably priced for both mine and my brother’s wedding. A lot of the relatives and friends complimented on the food and the number of food berkats that he gave for both the bride and groom’s side were of generous portions as well. Food were also prepared the night before for guests who could not make it for the Saturday event.

Photography & Videography – Stillmograph

I have know Hairolz for the longest time. My colleague turned friend. It was my 3rd job. I used him for my wedding so I recommended him to my brother and plus I had a good offer. :p Sponsored him half of the cost for this. So eventually my brother took it up. 🙂

PhotoBooth – Gerek Services

I chanced upon them during an event that Ola Lola did and like the photo outcome and what they provided. Luckily they were available coz I booked them at the last minute. I am thanful that they are able to accommodate to my requirements and they did not mind us adding in out extra large crates on the set. The crates gave the guest choices to either sit or stand for the shoot. They had ample props. Thankfully, they are also living around my estate, a few blocks down to be exact so they assisted to set up the night before.

I’m glad everything went well. I hope, both my brother and Hana will have a blessed marriage ahead. 🙂
