“Patience” said the Taxi Driver

Warning – This is gonna be a lengthy entry.
——————————————————————————

Met up with the partner for a quick trip to get some stuffs for Lola today. It was a “chop-chop” affair. Once done, at the taxi-stand, I was calling up Trans cab for 2 taxis coz it was near impossible to get a cab in-queue. Her Comfort cab app kept on failing. On a Sat and around 5ish, it was a long wait! Finally, I got mine 1st and boarded the taxi whilst putting myself on hold for the partner and after about 20 min, finally I got her a cab. I felt bad having to board the cab first when she had all the loots that we bought for Lola. Lucky to have gotten one! Nyways on a side track, excited to have some new loots to play around with for the upcoming orders.

So all the while in the cab, I kept quiet until the driver made a turn into PIE instead of going towards Bukit Timah. I spoke to him in Malay and he said, “Oh! Melayu eh, ingatkan Jepun (sic!), sebabtu  pakcik diam jer… [Translation: “Oh, you’re a Malay, I thought you were Japanese, that’s why I kept quiet!”] With the jam building up at the expressway, we got talking. He was asking me if I was married, how long and if I had any kids. I answered accordingly and I jokingly mentioned that I do have  3 at home, but 3 cats. He mentioned that that, what he said exactly when people asked him if he had kids when he was younger. This taxi driver was an Indian Muslim, and he mentioned that he was 62. He asked me how I felt when not having any kids, do I feel sad? I told him of course I do feel sad and looking at those people who got married later than us, it does hurt. But I did also tell him that I leave it up to HIM coz he knows better and that I have tried the western way, the malay traditional sengkak and now the Chinese TCM.

He told me to have patience and that HE knows better and giving me words of encouragement. All this while, I started to get a lil’ emotional with tears swelling up and trying not to show. Still unsure why I was opening up to a complete stranger. He started telling me about his life, how he too didn’t have any kids. His wife had a problem with her womb, went for surgery with a top surgeon and yet still not able to conceive. I did mention to him that I too went for a surgery but still no results yet. He carried on saying that friends told him to divorce his wife coz she wasn’t able to bear him kids ore remarry again. But he stood firm with his love for his wife and stayed on. He mentioned that his wife was an orphan so it wouldn’t also be right to do it. In the end, they registered to adopt and that the person at the registration mentioned that it would take 2- 3 yrs but within 2 months, they got a call but the uztad mentioned that if you agree to adopt, when you see the kid, if he/she was disabled, of different race, etc, you are not able to back out. So he and his wife tawakal and went ahead. What greeted them we 2 fair, big-eyed twins girls. They are 29 years old this year. So he said, my rezeki could come in any form and not give up.

He went on further giving me tips on what verses to read after each solat. The book name he gave which had the relevant verses to read was the exact same book that I am having. 🙂 Another advise he gave me was to take Habatus Saudah (got something off the net for what it’s good for). I recalled my mum giving me a bottle of this when she came back  from Mecca and I just placed it aside coz I dared not take it. So after reading up, I guess I should start taking it. No harm trying.  Here’s an excerpt from one of the site I read.

Nabi Muhammad S.A.W. bersabda dalam Haditsnya yang dikutip dari kitab Ash Shahihain ”Gunakanlah Habbatus Sauda’ kerana di dalamnya terdapat sejenis ubat dari segala jenis macam penyakit kecuali As Sam (maut)” (HR.Bukhari, Muslim)

He went on advising to eat kurma (dates) and madu (honey) daily at night before going to bed and another thing which I should give a try is susu kambing (goat’s milk). I recalled a friend asking me to try it but again the fear of trying something new made me put it off. To me, perhaps it’s HIS way of letting me meet this man and giving me all these advises. Since I am staying near the dairy farm and that the husband on not working this Sunday, I think I should give this a try. He was talking to me with full of excitement, telling me that the smell of the goat’s milk will put you off initially, but once u tasted it, you’ll want more and the nutrients that it carries, masya-allah he says! 🙂 He had a friend who had leukemia and by drink this and of coz many solats and doas, it cured the guy! Here’s what I found out about goat’s milk. Info taken from this site.

According to ‘Kitabul-alttaima’ from a hadith of Imam Muslim, it had been clearly stated that the drink that was favored the most of our Prophet Nabi Muhammad S.A.W was goat milk and it is a sunnah today to drink goat milk as well. Our Prophet drink goat milk fresh, unprocessed.

In another hadith, Nabi Muhammad S.A.W said, ” You have to rely on goat (taking advantages from goats; that is the meat, fur, skin and milk) for goats are your vehicles in Jannah’”.
